All Schools are Live in the AFMC Student Portal

We are pleased to announce that all Canadian schools of medicine are now live in the Portal offering almost all electives in a limited capacity. AFMC is working with the universities to expand their electives offering for the Fall of 2023.

NCIME Developing Leaders Symposium: Advancing Indigenous medical education and leadership in healthcare with Indigenous learner innovations for medical education

The National Consortium for Indigenous Medical Education (NCIME) is a partnership between the Indigenous Physicians Association of Canada, the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada, the College of Family Physicians of Canada, the Medical Council of Canada and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The NCIME provides leadership in areas of shared priority to implement Indigenous-led projects and workstreams that transform Indigenous medical education and contribute to the delivery of culturally safe health care.

The Elders and Knowledge Keepers Circle (EKKC) provides guidance and advice to the NCIME Executive Committee, Executive Director and Director of Community engagement based on their expertise and experience as an Indigenous Elder/Knowledge Keeper. 

Getting to know AFMC Board of Directors’ Public Members

The AFMC’s Board of Directors is constituted of 21 Directors including the Deans of the 17 Faculties of Medicine and four public members. By including members of the public on its Board of Directors, the AFMC benefits from the input of experienced leaders that bring important perspectives for the advancement of academic medicine in Canada.
