The Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada’s Board of Directors has decided that all interviews taking place in the fall of 2022 for the 2023 Medicine Subspecialty Match, Pediatric Subspecialty Match and Family Medicine, Enhanced Skills Match will be in a virtual format including those for local candidates.

After 12 years with the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC), of which over ten were as President and CEO, Dr. Geneviève Moineau’s tenure will come to an end on June 30, 2023.

Dr. Moineau has been instrumental in shaping and delivering on AFMC’s key priorities. She led the establishment of a new health research portfolio, successful advocacy which resulted in the reduction of the number of unmatched Canadian medical graduates, the independence of the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS), the confirmation of social accountability as the first priority in AFMC’s strategic plan, the increased international reach of AFMC including the development of the International Social Accountability and Accreditation Think Tank and the creation of the International Congress on Academic Medicine (ICAM).

Under Dr. Moineau’s leadership, the AFMC team has more than doubled in size due to the success in receiving support for important activities such as the National Consortium on Indigenous Medical Education, the AFMC Opioid Response Project, Canada’s Portal for Residency Program Promotion (CANPREPP), the Student Portal for Visiting Electives as well as the Culture of Academic Medicine Initiative.

Boyden has been retained to work with the AFMC to select Dr. Moineau’s successor and the process is underway. Enquiries may be directed to John Caminiti or Michael Naufal from Boyden directly at jcaminiti@boyden.com or mnaufal@boyden.com. They would welcome and appreciate your call.
