L\u2019ouverture de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfu.ca\/medicine.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">facult\u00e9 de m\u00e9decine de SFU<\/a> constitue un moment historique : il s\u2019agit de la premi\u00e8re nouvelle facult\u00e9 de m\u00e9decine en Colombie-Britannique et dans l\u2019Ouest canadien depuis pr\u00e8s de 60 ans, marquant une avanc\u00e9e majeure pour am\u00e9liorer l\u2019acc\u00e8s aux soins dans la province.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Situ\u00e9e \u00e0 Surrey, la facult\u00e9 de m\u00e9decine de SFU repose sur un mod\u00e8le ancr\u00e9 dans la communaut\u00e9, mettant fortement l\u2019accent sur les soins primaires et la formation des futurs m\u00e9decins dans les milieux o\u00f9 les soins sont prodigu\u00e9s. Les apprenant.e.s commencent leur formation clinique d\u00e8s le premier mois du programme, travaillant directement avec les \u00e9quipes locales et acqu\u00e9rant une exp\u00e9rience pratique ancr\u00e9e dans les r\u00e9alit\u00e9s de la sant\u00e9 communautaire. Cette approche favorise des liens significatifs entre les apprenant.e.s et les populations qu\u2019ils servent, pr\u00e9parant des dipl\u00f4m\u00e9s capables d\u2019offrir des soins \u00e9clair\u00e9s, respectueux et adapt\u00e9s aux besoins des communaut\u00e9s.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SFU accueillera sa premi\u00e8re cohorte de 48 \u00e9tudiants en m\u00e9decine en ao\u00fbt 2026 et pr\u00e9voit augmenter l\u2019effectif \u00e0 120 \u00e9tudiants d\u2019ici 2035. L\u2019\u00e9cole comprendra un volet d\u2019admission g\u00e9n\u00e9ral ainsi qu\u2019une voie d\u00e9di\u00e9e aux candidats des Premi\u00e8res Nations, m\u00e9tis et inuits, refl\u00e9tant son engagement envers l\u2019\u00e9quit\u00e9, la diversit\u00e9 et l\u2019inclusion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un volet central de la nouvelle facult\u00e9 est son engagement envers la sant\u00e9 autochtone et la r\u00e9conciliation. D\u00e9velopp\u00e9 en \u00e9troite collaboration avec les communaut\u00e9s autochtones, le programme int\u00e8gre les connaissances, les perspectives et les savoirs autochtones \u00e0 chaque \u00e9tape, de l\u2019\u00e9laboration du curriculum au soutien des \u00e9tudiants. Cette approche contribue \u00e0 faire progresser l\u2019\u00e9quit\u00e9 en sant\u00e9 et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 culturelle dans l\u2019\u00e9ducation m\u00e9dicale.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab L\u2019ouverture de la facult\u00e9 de m\u00e9decine de SFU repr\u00e9sente un pas audacieux pour l\u2019\u00e9ducation m\u00e9dicale au Canada. Nous construisons une facult\u00e9 profond\u00e9ment enracin\u00e9e dans la communaut\u00e9, fond\u00e9e sur l\u2019\u00e9quit\u00e9 et engag\u00e9e envers la r\u00e9conciliation, \u00bb affirme David Price, doyen fondateur et conseiller sp\u00e9cial aupr\u00e8s du Provost et vice-recteur \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9ducation. \u00ab Notre objectif est de former les futurs m\u00e9decins dans la communaut\u00e9, pour la communaut\u00e9 et avec la communaut\u00e9\u2014afin que l\u2019\u00e9ducation m\u00e9dicale r\u00e9ponde directement aux besoins de sant\u00e9 des Britanno-Colombiens.
