The Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) proudly celebrates Aïda Bangoura, Manager of Social Accountability, on her appointment as a Social Accountability Fellow by The Network: Towards Unity for Health (TUFH), a global organization advancing community-oriented health education and services.

This international fellowship recognizes Aïda’s leadership and positions AFMC to shape global conversations on social accountability in medical education, bringing Canadian expertise to the international stage.

As part of the fellowship, AFMC will contribute to and benefit from:

  • A framework and gap analysis aligned with global social accountability standards
  • A national capacity-building workshop for partners
  • Policy research and advocacy to integrate social accountability principles into medical education
  • A roadmap for institutional impact and long-term sustainability

With support from Joseph LeBlanc, Vice-President of Social Accountability, Aida will help translate fellowship insights into national initiatives and deepen AFMC’s engagement with the broader international community of socially accountable health leaders.

This recognition reinforces AFMC’s leadership in socially accountable medical education and its commitment to equity, sustainability, and planetary health while amplifying Canada’s voice in shaping the future of medical education worldwide.

Congratulations, Aïda. We are proud of your leadership and grateful for the expertise you bring to AFMC.
