These curricula have been developed to address gaps in medical education in pain management and opioid use disorder. These free, bilingual, online competency-based curricula can be used as a whole or can be integrated into existing curriculum.
Addressing Black health and wellness in academic medicine

The AFMC Board has approved the creation of a Committee on Black Health, Innovation and Advancement to provide support and advice to the AFMC Board, through the Standing Committee on Social Accountability (SCSA), on strategic and operational matters related to Black health and wellness in academic medicine.

Virtual interviews for all subspecialty matches

The AFMC Board approved that going forward all interviews for the Medicine Subspecialty Match, Pediatric Subspecialty Match and Family Medicine, Enhanced Skills Match will be in a virtual format including those for local candidates.

AFMC Awards Nominations Period is Open

The AFMC Awards recognize and celebrate distinguished individuals for their leadership, excellence, and achievements in academic medicine. Nominations are open for the 2024 AFMC Awards. Deadline for nominations is October 15, 2023. Learn more: https://www.afmc.ca/awards/.

Culture of Academic Medicine Initiative

Thanks to a grant from the Physician Wellness+Initiative, an initiative by Scotiabank, the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), and MD Financial Management (MD), AFMC and the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) have been working together to address the urgent and ongoing health and wellness needs of physicians, researchers, administrators and learners. A new website was launched in support of this initiative: cami-icmu.ca. Learners, faculty, staff, and patients are asked to share an experience that has impacted them in a meaningful way as part of the initiative.
