OTTAWA, ONTARIO – October 5, 2026 – Learners now have a single destination for information and resources to support their journey into and through medical education.

Building on its initial release in 2025, the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) has completed the rollout of MEDPREPP – Academic Medicine Preparation and Pathways, bringing together trusted tools, guidance and resources to help learners understand what they need to do, why it matters and when to do it.

The path to medicine can be complex, with important information often spread across multiple websites and sources. MEDPREPP aims to make that journey clearer by mapping key stages of academic medicine and connecting learners with relevant resources. The platform brings together existing AFMC programs and resources, including the AFMC Student Portal, CANPREPP and Future MD Canada, creating a more streamlined and equitable experience for learners.

Whether you are exploring medicine as a career, applying to medical school, navigating your medical education, preparing for residency or looking ahead to the next stage of your career, MEDPREPP is here to help you find your way.

MEDPREPP is made possible through the generous support of the CMA Foundation.

“Canada needs more doctors, and medical learners deserve support in navigating a complex system,” says CMA Foundation President Allison Seymour. “Making the path to medical practice clearer and more accessible is an important part of helping learners move forward with confidence.”

“Every learner who turns away from medicine because the path feels out of reach is a loss for the profession and for the communities they may one day serve,” says Constance LeBlanc, AFMC President and CEO. “MEDPREPP is part of our commitment to reducing barriers and helping learners access the support they need at every stage of their journey. We are grateful to the CMA Foundation for its generous support in making this national resource possible.”
