As part of its dedication to continuous quality improvement of undergraduate medical education, the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) is pleased to announce that it will hold a public hearing at the International Conference on Academic Medicine, taking place April 12-15, 2024, in Vancouver, BC.
This public hearing will be held on Saturday April 13, 2024, between 12:00p.m. – 1:00p.m. (Pacific Time), and will serve as a forum for discussion and collaboration on proposed substantial changes to Elements 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 7.1, 7.4, 7.6 and 7.7 within Standards 3 & 7. The current proposed version was developed through a highly iterative process.
The work on the changes to these Elements began over a year ago and the CACMS is grateful for all the interested parties who have contributed to getting these changes to this final phase of approval.
To participate in the public hearing and/or consultation regarding proposed substantial changes to Elements 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 7.1, 7.4, 7.6, and 7.7 within Standards 3 & 7, please follow these steps:
Public Hearing (In-Person):
- Register for the International Conference on Academic Medicine (ICAM):
If you have not already, register for ICAM, which is taking place from April 12-15, 2024, in Vancouver, BC. You can register on the ICAM website.
2. Attend the Public Hearing on April 13, 2024:
On Saturday, April 13, 2024, make sure to attend the public hearing where the proposed changes will be presented. This is your opportunity to engage in discussions and provide immediate feedback.
Public Consultation (Online):
- Submit Written Feedback Online:
If you are unable to attend the public hearing in person, or if you wish to supplement your in-person comments with written feedback, you can submit your comments and suggestions through the CACMS website. The online feedback submission period will be open from February 15, 2024, to August 15, 2024.
2. Access the Online Feedback Form:
To access the online feedback form, please visit the CACMS website between February 15, 2024, and August 15, 2024. A dedicated form for submitting your feedback is available.
